This piece was inspired by a lesson I had to learn the hard way: when life feels stuck, heavy, or not enough, the quickest way back to peace is shukr. 

The figure sitting in duʿā at sunrise represents that quiet moment where you stop chasing what you don’t have and start recognising what Allah has already carried you through. The golden horizon symbolises the promise in Surah Ibrāhīm “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you”  not only in wealth or opportunities, but in calm, clarity, barakah, and contentment. 

I wanted this piece to feel like a reminder you can live with: gratitude isn’t denial of hardship it’s choosing to see Allah’s mercy inside it, and trusting that the more you thank Him, the more He opens doors you didn’t even know existed.
